Dannte and his little friend

I hate metals.
Always have.
Metal chips too easily.
Plastic and fine-cast resin doesn't.

I am actually very happy GW went fine-cast. So it is rather sad that I bought the metal Dante two weeks before his fine-cast version entered the shops. Bollocks.

Anyway, purchase regrets aside. You can see I've modified him plenty. Given him jump pack, wings, a new sword (never liked the axe), even a plastic Infernus from the Sanguinary Guard box. He fits nicely with my Sanguinary Guards now.

However, the modifications were more than just for aesthetic reasons. They are for protection. The plastic add-ons serve as a kind of barrier to keep the metal chip-free. Thirty or more games in, and so far only the knuckles on the right hand have chipped. Hurrah!

Lastly, here's Zaphod complete. He was completed ages ago, I just never had a pick up. So here it is.
Now to work on my Storm Ravens...

  1. I share your grief on metal figs. Yes, the weight is nice but converting is a major headache.

Its good to see Lord Dante done. We should have a doubles game against Iqbal and Subhan for the campaign :)

I wonder if they would allow dante and sentikan to be fielded together hahahaha

  3. I like the metal miniatures, and converting them is not as hard as people say. Sure, it's challenging but the satisfaction after the process is way over the top (coz deep inside you know that not many people can achieve what you just did).

If you guys do team-up for a doubles game, with two Dante on the board, might as well change your chapter name to Alpha Legion.

  4. i'm ok with converting metal, it's the chipping i really don't like. I mean, imagine spending hours painting up a dude, only for it to chip the minute it's put on the table. All my hive guards and zoanthropes are chipped. Makes me so irritated grrr...

Khairul, our new chapter name is Alpha Legion.

  6. Looking good dude! I use matte varnish most of the time so chipping isn't such an issue for me. However, I do agree that it happens a lot more often with metal

  8. That's one awesome looking dreadnought ... Nice! With all the complaints about metal ... I guess I am lucky I am entering the hobby just when finecast is slowly replacing metal.
