Gold up 200pts

Wow, it's been a month and a half since I've updated! Dangit!

Anyway, just to show everyone I've not been (entirely) idle, here's my first Stormraven at 70% completion.

There's just so much to paint!! And adding to that, I do not have an airbrush - even if I had one, GW metallics don't really work well with them.

Hoo... still gotta complete 1 and a half wings and the base, then Stormraven MOIRAE will take flight...

Dannte and his little friend

I hate metals.
Always have.
Metal chips too easily.
Plastic and fine-cast resin doesn't.

I am actually very happy GW went fine-cast. So it is rather sad that I bought the metal Dante two weeks before his fine-cast version entered the shops. Bollocks.

Anyway, purchase regrets aside. You can see I've modified him plenty. Given him jump pack, wings, a new sword (never liked the axe), even a plastic Infernus from the Sanguinary Guard box. He fits nicely with my Sanguinary Guards now.

However, the modifications were more than just for aesthetic reasons. They are for protection. The plastic add-ons serve as a kind of barrier to keep the metal chip-free. Thirty or more games in, and so far only the knuckles on the right hand have chipped. Hurrah!

Lastly, here's Zaphod complete. He was completed ages ago, I just never had a pick up. So here it is.
Now to work on my Storm Ravens...

GOLdone-ish

Not too many updates since last week.

My Sanguinary Guards continue their slow and steady progress. Only left 1 dude and Dannte. Of course, let's not forget the two Storm Ravens...

Anyhoo, here are the rest in stunning technigold.

Libby-rath (WIP)

So. Let me get this straight... you wanna use him as your Librarian?

Yes.

. . . He doesn't look like a Librarian.

Neither does Mephiston, and he's Chief Librarian, mind you.

Yeah, but - your model - there's no psychic hood!

He does too. His hair's just covered all the wires attached on his head.

. . .

Use your imagination.

. . . And his face... ?

That's his death-mask.

That's a face!

No, it's his death-mask.

You just painted his face gold!

That's his death-mask.

Death-masks aren't sculpted in a maniacal scream!

It's the result of a horrible Harlequin psychic attack. Turned the death-mask all wonky.

. . . so what are you gonna use if and when you decide to field Astorath?

Duh... A Librarian.

Casualties of War Paints

It took on half an Eldar army. Their black, blues and whites did little to dent its fervour.

Then a full Tyranid force descended upon it. From humongous monsters to lowly hordes, it took them all on, and finished them in good time. Yet their numbers certainly took a toll, and while it showed no ill constitution, its will was corroding within.

Then came the Sanguinary Guards. Their armour and spears had at it, and its blunt fortitude could take no more. Ultimately their wings became its undoing, shattering its will, and breaking its impossible spirit.

To which I say... "DAMNIT!"

Friday 5 August 2011

Hey there Chap!

"Good mate, well met! That's a really nice two-handed weapon you got there.

Eh? Not using it - why ever not?

Spears? The boss has gone and given you spears? But wouldn't that make you all pointy and hard to get base-to-base contact? Nevermind I suppose. None of my business really...

Say, if you don't mind, could I use that weapon? Really? Sweet! Thanks man! Tell you what, the next time we go to war, I'll make you re-roll to hit and Fearless.

What do you mean you're already Fearless? I suppose all that's left is the re-roll to hit... Eh, master-crafted weapons? So what bloody good am I to you fellas?

Yes, well I suppose I am rather an attractive figure...

Hey! Hey wait! You there! You're one of them Honour Guards! How are you doing lad? Shelved eh? That's sad news... That being the case, could I use your jump pack and wings? C'mon I can make you re-roll to hit and Fearless! Don't be like that. C'mon. Hey. Hey! Hey, you better watch it fella, I got this here two-handed weapon and I'm wielding with only ONE HAND!

Minor updates on minor updates

Okay, been away for a while, I know...
Been awfully busy, sorry about that.

To begin with, I haven't been idle.

Updated my Sanguinary Guards with fixed bases and more highlights on the black wings (thanks to everyone who commented previously).
Also have started work on my major ICs (Dannte amongst them haha)

Anyway, here's some progress shots. More to come soon.

Friday 8 July 2011

Special among the special.

I meant to put these up earlier but somehow time slipped by me. Anyway having completed several normally-armed Sanguinary Guards, it was time to do the big-gun-carrying-buggers.

So I present: a melta, a plasma and a fist.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLD!

I must admit, one of the reasons I chose Sanguinary Guards as my 2011 army is cuz everything's GOLD. With the idea of a Sanguinary army (and not just a company - I'm talking whole chapter), this gave me license to do the most audacious things... and still get away with it.

So prepare your eyes for ... Guppy #1!

Special thanks to Alvin for letting me use his airbrush!
Thanks man!

Point the way, Rahab!

It's really so cool when your army is only 22 models small.

Back in the days of preparing Hive Fleet Zavulon, I was counting each and every Termagant I finished going 'let this madness end!'

Now I can put in large amounts of work into each model. And the count gets smaller every week. Today marks the 5th completed model. 17 more to go.

I present Rahab:

Let's give a hand to Zaphod

Here are more WIP shots of my Sanguinary Furioso, whom I've named Zaphod:

Just one more arm to go, some weathering on the legs and overall body, and I'm done! woot!

New blog, new army

My original site: idtdesigns.multiply.com was inadequate. Thus I've moved to blogger as a suggestion from Jeff.

So here's my first post, an update on a piece I'm working on for my new Sanguinary Guard Army.

I present the Sanguinary Furioso! (Stage 1 of painting: GOLD!)
